AnnaKate Spotts, Ph.D., CCC-SLP



AnnaKate Spotts is a postdoctoral fellow and certified speech-language pathologist.

In 2024, she graduated from the PhD program in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Cincinnati. Her dissertation work utalized functional near infrared spectroscopy to measure blood flow response in the cortex during perception of dysarthric speech. She also examined the connection between cortical blood flow and subjective intelligibility ratings from the same listener. (PI: Carrie Rountrey). AnnaKate recieved an M.S. (2019) in speech-language pathology and a B.S. (2017) in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Central Arkansas. Name is a post-doctoral fellow and certified speech-language pathologist.


Research

Her research focuses on the development of functional near infrared spectroscopy as a neuroimaging tool that can be utilized in increasingly natural environments. She is also interested in studying how the public engages with emerging technology and research related to the rehabilitation of speech and language and how this impacts recovery.
